Jewelry Wire Bending

Choosing Correct Jewelry pliers for Jewelry Making
As we all know that we are unable to make Jewelry Pieces without jewelry tools, and jewelry pliers are the essential jewelry tools for jewelry making.
Pliers are a hand tool used to hold objects firmly, for cutting, bending, or physical compression. Generally, pliers consist of a pair of metal first-class levers joined at a fulcrum positioned closer to one end of the levers, creating short jaws on one side of the fulcrum, and longer handles on the other side. This arrangement creates a mechanical advantage, allowing the force of the hand’s grip to be amplified and focused on an object with precision. The jaws can also be used to manipulate objects too small or unwieldy to be manipulated with fingers.
There are many different types of pliers, each one having a different application. Pliers come with a range of different” nose” shape, and also some are fitted with springs to make them easy to work with and to give a greater degree of accuracy. Spring pliers enable you to hold work under tension.
Flat nose-broad, flat jaws used for gripping and holding wire and creating angular bends. It also is great for opening and closing jump rings.
Round nose- the jaws of round nose pliers are formed into two small circles, making these pliers suitable for intricate bends in wire and making jump rings. They are probably one of the most important tools for wire and metal workers.
China nose – pointed flat nose pliers, are used for gripping and tucking in wire ends, and getting into tight places. It is very important that your chain nose pliers have smooth metal jaws – not serrated jaws. One of the challenges of wire jewelry making is learning to avoid scratching and marring wire with your tools.
Wire cutters- if you plan to use a wire, then wire cutters are going to be the essential jewelry tools. Find out what you need to know about selecting the best wire cutter for your needs.
Bent chain nose- chain nose pliers with a 45 degree bend for getting into tight places. They can also be used for picking up small parts, and opening and closing jump rings.
No matter which jewelry pliers you purchase, the first thing you need to do when you get them is to check the edges. Most pliers need to be filed before use to remove sharp edges that can mar the wire. Check to see if these edges are sharp, and if they are, take a file and file them down. This will save you a lot of headaches later because you won’t have to polish out tool marks on your finished jewelry piece.
